Saw Chain is sharp. Always wear gloves when handling assembly, otherwise serious personal injury may result.
There could be several reasons why the chain may not turn on a chain saw. Please check the following:
1. Chain Tension: With engine turned off, check chain tension. Wearing gloves to protect hands from sharp cutters on chain, pull the chain around the bar. There should be light resistance, and chain should pull around bar smoothly.
2. Chain Brake: Make sure the chain brake (orange lever located on the top of the chain brake cover) is released by pulling the orange handle towards you. By releasing the chain brake, the brake band located inside the chain brake cover will expand and allow movement of cutting chain.
3. Bar Tip: Remove guide bar cover, cutting chain, and guide bar. Inspect sprocket on bar for ease of rotation. If sprocket does not turn, remove saw dust debris and lubricate bar tips sprocket. If sprocket will not loosen, replace guide ba.
