Procedures for Cleaning Chain Saws

1. Remove guide bar cover, guide bar, and saw chain.
2. Clean bar and chain with a mixture of 50/50 solution of kerosene and clean SAE 30W (weight) automobile oil.
3. Using a plastic scraper, remove all solid material and debris from saw body and guide bar cover.
Several varieties of trees; such as palm trees produce sap that is acidic, and can cause corrosion of the chain saw components if not properly cleaned from the chain saw.We recommends the chain saw be cleaned immediately after cutting a palm tree or any other acidic, sap-producing tree. If you have used the chain saw for this purpose, then in addition to the above steps, please also follow steps 4-7 below:
4.Mix 3 tablespoons of baking soda with 1'2 gallon warm water. (Baking soda is used as neutralizing agent).
5.Apply mixture of water and baking soda with a clean medium bristle paintbrush liberally to all areas of the sawbody and guide bar cover.
6.Allow mixture 2-5 minutes to neutralize acid, and wipe clean with a damp cloth.
7. Repeat steps 4-6 at least 2 times.
Note: Do NOT submerge chain saw or saturate with water. Severe damage to chain saw can occur.
